Can you pay your $7,800 share of State Debt?

With the recent “deal” in Washington, Americans are well aware of the federal debt crisis.

But did you know that career politicians in Harrisburg have put us on the hook for close to $95 billion worth of state debt?!    That’s a $7,800 tab for every man, woman and child in Pennsylvania.   Pennsylvania now has the 2nd highest per-capita burden of state and local debt in the nation.

I don’t know about you, but my wife and I don’t have $31,200 to shell out for ourselves and our two boys to cover Harrisburg’s endless borrowing to finance wasteful spending.  But in the end, they’ll get every cent of it from us through higher taxes.

It’s time for employers and hardworking taxpayers to stand up and say, “Enough!”  It’s time to wrestle control of state government from career politicians who  get paid $78,000 a year for a part-time job, plus health benefits and a pension the rest of us can only dream of, while saddling us, our children and our grandchildren with unbearable debt, heavy taxes and regulations.

Please consider:

1.  Becoming a candidate for the General Assembly or recruiting someone else to serve; or

2.   Contributing now to CAP’s Ben Franklin Project, the goal of which is to help elect 55 fiscally conservative, citizen legislators to the state House and 15 to the state Senate.

We have an opportunity like none any of us has seen in our lifetimes to break the status quo.

Remember: All that is necessary for business-as-usual to continue is for good people to do nothing.  We can’t afford business as usual anymore.

Join the fight.
